Big Game parties

Feb. 5: Pick your Big Game party Sunday from three locations on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Catch the action at Nelson Recreation Center with a Madden tournament at 1 p.m., free munchies and cushy comfort; McChord Club's Pub & Deli party with free hot dogs and other food for purchase, or Heroes Lounge at Cascade Community Center with free chili at half time.

Military Day at Crystal Feb. 8. $40. Don't miss the chance to ski or ride Crystal for half price. Transportation and gear are provided. Lift tickets are not included but can be purchased at the mountain. (Transportation only is $20).

Snowshoe Gold Creek Feb. 10. $35. Snowshoe by the light of the moon. Gear, guide and instruction are provided. Minimum age: 12.

Snowmobile Cascades Feb. 11. $125. Fun, action, beauty and excitement await you. For those seeking a fun-filled winter experience, this trip through the Cascade Mountains is just for you. Helmet, boots, gloves and snowsuit are provided. Dress in layers. Fun for the entire family. Minimum age to drive: 16. Wine & chocolate tour Feb. 12. $75. Head to the Olympics Sunday for a wine-and-chocolate tour for your taste buds. Price includes event admission, samples and commemorative glass. Must be at least 21 years of age.

After-work kayak class Feb. 15. $20. Head to the pool to learn self-rescue techniques and paddling skills so you'll be more confident on open-water trips. Minimum age: 12.

Ski Copper Creek Hut Feb. 18. $40. This will be a great day in the snow-filled Cascades spent skiing in the Mount Tahoma cross-country ski area. Ski to the Copper Creek Hut and warm up with some hot cocoa before making the trip back. Difficulty: more difficult; distance: 6 miles; time: three hours.

Winter survival camp Feb. 18, 19. $65. Head to Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park to learn the basics of trip preparation, winter travel, shelter construction and winter survival basics, backcountry cooking and leave-no-trace camping. The Saturday overnight trip fee includes winter camping class, group gear, transportation and entrance into Mount Rainier National Park and two camp meals. Minimum age: 18.

Ski/board Crystal Feb. 19. $40. Tired of the rain? Spend a day in the snow at Crystal Mountain. Transportation and gear are provided. (Transportation only: $20)

X-country Lake Easton Feb. 25. $40. Combine short runs, rolling hills, groomed trails and beautiful views, and you have a great day of cross-country skiing at Lake Easton! Get outside for a great workout in the snow. Difficulty: moderate; time: three hours; distance: 5 miles. Minimum age: 12.

Bungee at St. Helens Feb. 25. $125. Head to the base of Mount St. Helens to bungee jump off the highest bungee bridge in the country. A full 20 stories high, the spectacular private bridge is nestled in a beautiful emerald green forest above a majestic sparkling river. If adrenaline is what you crave, you won't be disappointed. Fee includes transportation, two jumps and the coveted Dangerous Sports Club T-shirt. Minimum weight: 90 pounds.
