Those with a love for aviation and a desire to see how airplanes are manufactured can get an up-close-and-personal look at the process at Boeing's Future of Flight Aviation Center.

Located about 25 miles north of Seattle in Mukilteo (8415 Paine Field Blvd, Mukilteo, WA 98275) The Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour is the only public tour of a commercial jet assembly plant in North America.

Guests can get the chance to explore the interactive exhibits and displays in the 28,000-square-foot aviation center gallery; then go behind the scenes for a 90-minute tour of the Boeing plant where they can watch 747s, 777s, or 787s being assembled right before their eyes.

The world of aviation has changed dramatically since William Boeing filled his first production order of Model C Seaplanes for the U.S. Navy during World War I. Through the interactive learning zones of the Future of Flight Aviation Center Gallery, visitors learn just how far the world has come in aviation design and where its headed to in the future.

The journey begins in the Airplane Design Zone, where people can learn all about the technological nuances and design innovations of powered flight. There is also a chance to step up to one of the design zone computers to begin digitally designing a commercial jet of your own. Visitors can then "taxi" on over to the other gallery zones where they will be able to modify, test and finalize their personalized design at touch-screen computers before printing off the final schematic of the jet in the Future of Flight Store.

Other parts of the tour include a walk through the Materials Zone, where people can compare the refined design of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner fuselage to an actual section of a fuselage from a Boeing 707.

The Propulsion and Engine Zone features real engines and a chance to learn about the different engine types and means of propulsion through video animation from the beginning of the jet age to engines of today. The center is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, and Boeing tours are on the hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
