Ale House Pub & Eatery

The Ale House is not the place to go if you want romantic ambience. Rather, this is where you go if you want to spend some time with very possibly the finest beer-on-tap collection in Tacoma. With 64 beers on tap from all over the world, you just can't go wrong. The happy hour is on every day from 3 to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close and is tough to beat with $2 domestic pints, $4 wine by the glass, deals on appetizers and more.

Engine House No. 9

Engine House No. 9 (or E-9) is cool because it is quintessential Tacoma at its best. This was Tacoma's first microbrewery, Tacoma's first non-smoking pub, and remains a major player on the scene almost 20 years later. With ales made fresh in-house, ranging from a Roasted Porter to a nice light Belgian White, beer fans will be pleased. The restaurant is housed in a firehouse built in 1907 and still retains some of original firefighting artifacts. Recently purchased by the X Group, the force behind Asado and Masa, there's new excitement regarding the food, which over time has been good, but not astounding-tastier than your typical pub food and still affordable.

Harmon

The Harmon has a main restaurant and brewery location on Pacific Avenue as well as a few side locations in the Stadium District. My favorite is the main location, but all carry Harmon's signature beers and have menus worth checking out, cool happy hour specials and fun special events like trivia nights, live music and game nights.

Fish Tale Brew Pub

This brewpub in Olympia is a cool place to kick back with friends or settle into a quiet-ish corner with a date. Ambient lighting, an excellent selection of brew and tasty food make the Fish Tale Brew Pub worth a visit. What's special about this pub is that it offers Fish Tale Organic Ales and a nice range of vegetarian options on the menu. Get tipsy with consideration for the environment!
