Have a pet? Love pets? The entire community (military, DuPont and beyond) is invited to a free Pet Fair May 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in DuPont as part of the Armed Forces Day weekend. And your pet is going to feel like the star of the show.

"It's a packed day of freebies and fun," said Ken Swarner, organizer of the event.  "We have tons of free services and activities for the entire family."

Those events include a huge petting farm with barn animals, exotics and more -- 1,800 square feet for all ages.

"This is a great opportunity to come out and meet friendly animals face to face," Swarner added.

The day also includes a few veterinarian services, too, thanks to Good Neighbor Vet.  Your pet can get micro-chipped for only $15.

"This is such an amazing price that Good Neighbor Vet is extending to our fair," Swarner said.  "And it includes registry so your pet can be located anytime, anywhere."

In addition, veterinarians will be on hand for free advice.

Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to know their pet's behaviors and issues better, too, with free psychic sittings.

"This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get to the nitty gritty of your pet's issues," Swarner said.  "And these services are free -- no tipping or charges accepted.  We will have a number of folks there to meet with you and your pet."

"Aside from micro-chipping and food, the event is completely free," Swarner explained.

The action takes place in the parking lot at America's Credit Union in DuPont, produced by The Ranger, NW Airlifter and Stars and Stripes newspapers, and sponsored by USAA.

"At the Pet Fair, we also have giveaways, door prizes, but you must RSVP in advance to get your name into those drawings," Swarner said.  "We are giving away lots of gift certificates to Lobster Shop, Boathouse 19 and more, as well as a week at Horse Camp."  Other vendors will also have giveaways and prizes to hand out as well.  Anyone can RSVP, military or civilian.

The Pet Fair is an annual event in DuPont on the Sunday of Armed Forces Weekend, and is open to anyone.  Pets are welcome; however, pet owners are responsible for their pet's messes and behaviors. Vendors include pet-related companies as well as others.
