The spouses and girlfriends of deployed, soon-to-deploy or recently returned troops from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, including the Guard and Reserves in our state, are invited to an evening of pampering free of charge, February 25 from 4-8 p.m..  The Olympia Auto Mall, The Ranger and NW Airlifter newspapers, the Association of the United States Army, along with many event sponsors, are thrilled to honor you for your sacrifices with free pampering services, gifts, give-aways, door prizes and food (beverages are available for a nominal price).  Military ID will be required at the door for spouses, and for girlfriends, they'll need their boyfriend's name and unit to enter.  RSVPs are limited to 900 attendees so RSVP today.

This is a very good idea.good way to meet new army wifes and get out of the house for awhile. Not to mention get pampered at the same time

Thanks. Yes, our bad. Girl friends will need to have their boyfriends name and unit with them to enter. We'll correct that now.

I love that you included girlfriends too! So often they are overlooked when their soldier deploys! I'm a spouse but have passed this along to all the girlfriends I know. Thanks!

Just a thought.... This shouldn't be marketed to girlfriends of deployed members if a military ID is required since girlfriends and fiancés don't have those....

This is a wonderful opportunity and I hope wives/girlfriends/fiances utilize it! I would if my hubs was deployed but he is stateside but if they offer this again for all spouses (regardless of deployment status) I would definitely attend :) Hope you ladies have an awesome time!!

So what of male spouses who's wife is deployed? They are the forgotten few!

I think its great that the spouses and girlfriends of deployed spouses are getting this treat. However, my husband is not deployed but I am just as stressed with a toddler and a newborn! I see a lot of things geared toward hose with deployed spouses but it seems as if everyone else is forgotten.

Just curious, what about mother of single soldiers. They 2 are always forgotten.

Moms of single soldiers are welcome to attend if your soldier is currently deployed.

Chlona, I am so sorry, but our resources are not enough to provide these services to all spouses. We do these events one to two times a year. If your husband isn't deployed now, chances are, he will deploy and we'll have an event to include you. In October, we were fortunate to invite ALL local military kids to a big party, deployed or not. BUT, do keep your eyes open for some parties we'll announce soon that are open to all spouses. Plus, check out our "deals" section for contests and offers we have that are also open to all.

How do we prove eligibility for this? Are we supposed to bring a copy of their orders?

RangerKen said on Jan. 28, 2012 at 10:44pm

If they are a boyfriend, just know their name and unit. Thanks.

I wouldn't say that the ones home are forgotten, its more that their husbands are home to pampered them and to do nice things for valentines day. Those of us with deployed spouses, don't have that. We're lucky to get a phone call.

So what is "soon to be deployed" considered as? 2 months.. 6 months.. 10 months?

User Photo

Soon to deploy is up to you decide. We won't be checking. The important point is that we have a limited number of spots so RSVP soon.

So if we receive the registration conformation, does that secure a spot for this event ?

Hello, Our spouses will deploy again in August-Sept, will you be offering this great service at that time? They have just returned, but if you are doing another one, we could wait until the next round and let ladies who need it more go 1st - thanks:)

I am a female Soldier and have deployed, my husband is also scheduled to deploy shortly. I have registered and am trying to get a few other female Soldiers to register to come with me but, we are wondering.. do female Soldiers who would like to register need to have a spouse/boyfriend scheduled to deploy or need to be deployed themselves?

I am a licensed cosmetologist and I would love to volunteer my time and experience to help these women. Email me when and where...I'll be there to help.

The news article I read in the Ranger also said female Soldiers, is this still true? My friend and I recently returned from a deployment and wanted to attend this event.

User Photo

RangerKen said on Feb. 11, 2012 at 12:17pm

Yes, female troops too may RSVP :-)

What kind of services will be there? Is there a list?
And will a confirmation email be sent out before the event happens?

User Photo

Tamara said on Feb. 21, 2012 at 11:14am

I received the confirmation email when I RSVPd but accidentally deleted it. I know there was a password of some sort on it, do we need it? And where at the towne center will this event take place?

Thank you
