Jake's on 4th has a unique and progressive happy hour, as well as the longest and cheapest happy hour in Olympia. So here's the deal: Well drinks and domestic drafts are $1 from 10 a.m. to noon, $1.50 from noon to 2 p.m. and $2 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; micros are $2.50 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Besides the fact that it must be a total pain in the ass for the bartender to look at the clock every order, it sounds like an excellent way to stretch those hard-earned dollars. Bonus if you're gay, because this bar is Olympia's own self-proclaimed queer bar. A pool table, food, pull tabs, nice bartenders and an odd, progressive happy hour make Jake's sound like heaven at 10:27 a.m. on a Monday morning.

"We're just kind of like a big family, it's nice," says the anonymous morning bartender.

Just a few hours shy of Jake's long-ass happy hour, McCoy's Tavern in Olympia has to be included for its noon to 7 p.m. happy hour featuring $3.50 double wells and ... dun dun dun ... $2 small pitchers!! (Or, smitchers, as the regulars call ‘em.) In addition to the long happy hour, you'll find long faces, long hair and long smoke breaks, as they daytime drinking crowd is in its own little long-happy-hour world. With free computer use and a decent pool table, hours and hours can be lost inside this dive-y downtown favorite.

"We have that neighborhood feel, lots of classic rock, and I don't even know how to describe the weirdness, its just regular people, you know?" says Charlie Rowe, happy hour bartender extraordinaire, who usually rocks a tie-dye and a smirk. Go ahead, dig through the couch cushions, you know you want a taste of that cheap goodness, and the company of weirdos, all day long. - Nikki Talotta
