Friday, Jan. 9-Sunday, Jan. 11: Monster Jam

Tacoma Dome

By Volcano Staff on January 5, 2015

Who doesn't like to sit in attendance while junkyard cars get smashed and toppled by massive, petrol-chugging monster trucks? Probably no one. That's like suggesting there's someone out there that doesn't like nacho cheese and back fat. Likely story. ... Anyway, luckily this weekend "the world's biggest and baddest monster trucks battling it out in the ultimate event of intense speed, racing and destruction as the Monster Jamevent rolls into the Tacoma Dome." The 2015 line-up features six trucks appearing in Tacoma for the first time - the next generation of the Grave Digger family, Son-uva Digger (driven by Ryan Anderson), monstrous Zombie (first ever truck theme selected by the online fans), Fox Sports 1 Cleatus, Doomsday, Playin For Keeps and Trouble Maker (all-new truck from Gig Harbor resident driver Travis Groth). No matter where you're seated in the Tacoma Dome, you won't need binoculars: At eleven feet tall and weighing in at 9,000 pounds, monster trucks are easy to eyeball as they mash the motor, teeter, roll and auger in (monster-ese for a nosedive - as if you didn't know).

MONSTER JAM, 7:30 p.m., also 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, Tacoma Dome, 2727 E. D St., Tacoma, $10-$25, Ticketmaster
