Monday, Dec. 29: Maria Joyner-Wulf

Rhythm and Rye

By Volcano Staff on December 20, 2014

It's been awhile since we last stumbled into Rhythm and Rye for its Monday night Jazz Lounge Series, mainly because we're leading a lifestyle that discourages partying on days that don't begin with an F or an S. There are, however, many folks whose responsibilities don't begin until late in the day, so they should, of course, feel free to partake of jazz on any night. Regardless of your intended bedtime, we think it's worth staying up for first call jazz drummer Maria Joyner-Wulf and her band. Joyner-Wulf plays with many groups in the region including Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Senators and Bevy. She's also a music educator, band leader, composer and multi-instrumentalist. She'll join pianist Reuel Lubag, bassist Wayne Bliss and saxophonist Cynthia Mullis for R&R's last jazz night of the year.
