If we were a rich man, we'd offer the Olympia Film society a couple hundred rubles to keep "Fiddler on the Roof" in town a few more days.

You know you're already humming "If I Were a Rich Man" in your head. If you aren't, we are. Once again, Olympia's Capitol Theater screens the classic musical film Fiddler on the Roof Christmas day. But beyond simply watching, you will be immersed in the total If-I-Were-A-Rich-Man experience - you will have the chance to sing along. Or at least you can move your lips to the words to pretend like you're singing along. That part is up to you. The beloved '60s film, based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem, is about . . . aw, heck, you know what it's about. Jewish village life in old Russia. A people enduring. Tradition. A man trying to marry off his daughters. His daughters trying to marry men they actually want. And, of course, a lot of singing: "If I were a rich man/Doobie-doobie-doobie-doobie. ..." Come in costume and sing. Temple Beth Hatfiloh hosts a warm coat and blanket drive, so bring your donations. Homemade baked goods will raise the roof.
