Walking into Café Love in Olympia, the smell of fresh coffee, the cheerfulness of bright paintings against the warmth of wood walls and the welcoming of mellow music greets. Owners Martin and Vanessa Borcherding opened Café Love after their honeymoon. Besides being a manifestation of their new life together, Café Love's name was chosen as a way to invite people in. Old Growth Poetry Collective is hosting a weekly poetry open mic at Cafe Love every Thursday at 7 p.m. Old Growth Poetry Collection's name was chosen as a way to summon divine underground alternative superlative surreptitious energies to combat the rank dank demons of hate and homeland security and lame sitcoms. We could be wrong. What we do know is there is a different featured spoken word artist from the Cascadia area every week.
