I love animals, animals of all kinds - and not just the cutest ones either, such as puppies and kitties. There are also horsies and dolphins and ... rhinos? Sure, why not. Unfortunately, these latter, magnificent creatures are under threat by poachers. But what can we do about it, short of booking a trip to Africa to poach the poachers? Drink, of course! Aug. 21, the ParkWay Tavern hosts a fundraiser benefiting Drinking For Conservation and Point Defiance AAZK (which I believe stands for the American Association of Zoo Keepers, and not, say, the Aquatic Astrologers Zodiac Klatch). All you have to do is show up between 6 and 10 p.m. and pour alcoholic beverages down your throat. Fifty cents from each drink will be donated to the cause. There'll also be a donation bucket available, and contributions can be made online at https://sites.google.com/site/drinkingforconservation/home.
