The Washington Capital Museum's Coach House will be overflowing with ceramic garden gnomes - sporting jaunty hats, toting farm tools, and grinning their frozen, maniacal grins. If you're the typical A Sale For All Seasons Spring Fling visitor, you'll put on a life-size felt gnome hat, and wander through an experience that strikes you all at once as kitschy, absurd and delightful. The 5th annual sale will host a wide array of handcrafted items for spring and summer occasions, such as jewelry, honey, paper crafts, handpainted items, fabric totes, painted silks, ceramics, floral décor, yard and garden art, aprons, baby blankets, potted flowers, wooden benches, textile and fiber art, bullet casing pens, boxes, stoppers, botanically-themed gifts and gnomes. Oh, the gnomes, holding cheerful conversations outside their tiny homes, or congregate in large, convivial groups. Somewhere in the middle, one gnome will be handing the other a ceramic pie. Elsewhere, two gnomes stand back-to-back, definitely less than friendly with one another. Spring Fling organizers ask attendees to bring canned food for the Food Bank ... or else, deal with that one gnome in the corner.
