Saturday, Feb. 15: JBLM Bettie Brigade

Lacey Derby Center

By Volcano Staff on February 10, 2014

If we referred to "the weekend's most exciting sports event," we couldn't blame you for assuming we meant Olympics Ice Dancing. But we've got another entry in that category: the JBLM Bettie Brigade's second bout of the season. By now you've heard about the roller derby resurgence. Hell, you may have even seen that movie Drew Barrymore directed with the chick from Juno in it. We haven't seen it, but something tells us it's not half as cool as actually watching the Betties in action, in a real-life, knockdown, drag-out bout. That's exactly what you'll get Saturday, when the Betties bust out the elbow pads and helmets - and offer the full-contact hungry what they've been looking for during the second bout of season four against Grunge City Rollers. Bonus: The JBLM Bettie Bratz are back and ready to issue some JV hurt on the Grunge City Juniors.

BETTIE BRIGADE BOUT 2, 6 p.m., beer garden w/ID, Lacey Derby Center, 5700 Lacey Dr., Lacey, $10-$12, bettiebrigade.com
