Looks like the Bettie Brigade, Dockyard Derby Dames and Oly Rollers have competition for the title of Fastest Wheels in the South Sound. The National Speed Skating Circuit (NSC) holds its first event of the year Saturday at the Tacoma Armory.  Inline skaters will race around a wooden track at speeds of up to 30 mph, in both sprints and endurance challenges. The object is for skaters to accumulate points over the course of a season. Those who finish with the most points will qualify for the season finale Grand Champion Race - the winner of which will be crowned Season Grand Champion. The actual details are a bit more complicated than just that, but ... who cares? There's going to be spectacular crashes! And plenty of them! Think NASCAR, but with spandex and flesh. Sure this is the first time the Federal Way-based NSC has staged an event in Tacoma. And it's cool NSC president and co-founder Miguel Jose is a four-time inline speed skater National Champion. It doesn't matter! There will be human collisions! And it will be glorious! This, you must see in person.
