Americana roots-rock singer/songwriter Ian McFeron will bring his mix of alt-country, acoustic based pop rock and blues to Gig Harbor's new all-ages venue the Gig Spot Friday night. The darling of former Seattle radio station KMTT The Mountain, this is not your grandfather's back porch fiddle music. It has groove-based beats that are danceable but not in-your-face and a thoroughly modern appeal while still honoring its influences. McFeron will undoubtedly cover much from his latest self-released CD, Time Will Take You, but will also heed the demands of loyal fans, performing favorites from prior releases Fistfight with Father Time, Don't Look Back and A Long Way to Freedom. Close your eyes and conjure Dave Matthews, Tom Waits, Ryan Adams and Bob Dylan sharing a vat of red wine. Now open them and slap your face - you're in an all-ages venue, schmo.

IAN MCFERON, 8 p.m., The Gig Spot, 6615 38th Ave. NW, Gig Harbor, $8-$10, 253.853.4188
