It's exciting news, indeed. James Carpenter is scheduled to be in the Museum of Glass's Hot Shop Oct. 23-27. We couldn't remember if a Seattle Seahawk has ever tackled glassblowing at MOG. It makes sense, though. The 6-foot-5, 321 pounds offensive lineman - a third-year pro out of Alabama - has been in and out of rehab. Selected as Seattle's right tackle with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Carpenter tore an ACL in his left knee in his rookie season, re-injured it the next year. He's starting right now, but MOG's decision to schedule him is a solid guess considering his injury pattern. His size and strength in the Hot Shop should ... what's that? ... Apparently the James Carpenter entering the Hot Shop Oct. 23 is actually the glass artist born in Washington and raised in New England, who collaborated with Dale Chihuly from 1969 to 1974 on a series of sculptures. Today, he's known as a designer/artist for buildings, such as the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and 7 World Trade Center. That's exciting news, indeed.
