The Tacoma/Pierce County hip-hop community and the Z53 Zulu Nation (Tacoma Chapter) host a Back 2 School Jam Saturday in recognition of education and community.  The Z53 Chapter of The Zulu Nation is in its first year of service, and as a new chapter, it is christening its beginning with an "Each One, Feed One Community Potluck" hosted at The D.A.S.H. Center. The Zulu Nation as an organization champions the original principles of hip-hop, which are: Peace, Love, Unity, Having Fun and Knowledge. To the novice, these principles may seem foreign in association with current day depictions of hip-hop. Z53 serves preserve, protect and promote the true meaning of hip-hop, connecting with communities and youth. Saturday offers an opportunity to learn about the Z53 Chapter and Zulu Nation, donate food and clothing, experience live graffiti, live DJs, live B-Boys/Girls, live open-mic along with haircuts, face-painting, free school supplies - all for free.

ZULU BACK 2 SCHOOL JAM, noon to 5 p.m., all ages, The D.A.S.H. Center, 1504 MLK Jr. Way, Tacoma, no cover, 253.507.9466
