With travel come all the wonderful stories of rats in Paris, cats in Greece, and roaches in Spain. Does anyone else track their trips through the vermin they encounter along the way? Thursday at the University Place Library you can hear even more fabulous stories about travel. That's because Jared McCaffree, Jessica Mans and Kobus Mans, authors of Don't Go There. It's Not Safe. You'll Die: And Other More Rational Advice for Overlanding Mexico and Central America and Forks in the Road: Recipes from Overlanding the Pan-American Highway will read at 7 p.m. In October 2011, the authors left their home in Seattle and headed south. They not only reached their goal of driving to Patagonia and spending the night in Antarctica, but continued north and ended their trip in Rio de Janeiro. Based on their positive experiences, they wrote the two books. The work is intended to go deeper than a typical travel guidebook, to convey the follies of spending more than 350 days tent camping in 190 different locations ... with laptops.
