Saturday, June 29: Down & Dirty Mud Run 5K

Joint Base Lewis-McChord

By Volcano Staff on June 23, 2013

Like some kind of bizarre cross between Braveheart, Woodstock and boot camp of all time, the Down & Dirty Mud Run 5K brings together military and civilians to dress wacky, run a formidable obstacle course and get really, really muddy. Last year, more than 400 runners participated in the annual mud run behind Soldiers Field House on Lewis Main. Dressed in cartoon theme or whatever theme they chose, there was no crossing the finish line clean. Thousands of gallons of water were added to the dirt obstacles on the course to ensure participants were satisfied. It's back on this year, with two scheduled dates - June 29 and Aug. 3. Oh, what a spectacle it will be.

DOWN & DIRTY MUD RUN 5K, 8:30 a.m. packet pick up, 10 a.m. race, Soldiers Field House on Joint Base Lewis-McChord Main, $15-$30, 253.967.4768
