Friday, June 28: Beer Garden Party

Goldfish Tavern

By Volcano Staff on June 22, 2013

Whether it was a 1933 Velocette KTT Mark 4, the year it opened, or a 2012 BMW K1300S HP, the year it closed, the Goldfish Tavern and motorcycles have had a love affair. The well-known spot for congregating bikers, both authentic and weekend warriors, the Goldfish was a low-key, low-frills, beer joint, where everyone knew your name, and they were all glad you came. You were glad too. You bathed in the warmth of its wood paneling and the glow of its fireplace. As we hinted, the Goldfish closed last year.

Carol Gore, whose family has owned the property since the 1950s, is trying to reopen the Goldfish. The family recently held a rummage sale to raise money for their annual beer garden party during the Taste of Tacoma, which will be held across the street at Point Defiance Park. The hope is the outdoor beer garden will raise enough money repairs, including a new floor. Ride on over to the Goldfish Friday, June 28 and raise a mug for the dive bar's resurrection. We suggest they don't bring back the pickled eggs.
