Sunday, June 5: Argonaut

Hell's Kitchen

By Matt Driscoll on June 1, 2011

Has there been a more welcome comeback in recent musical memory than that of longtime Tacoma sludge-metal stalwarts Argonaut? I think not. After a four-year (seems like longer) breakup, Argonaut reunited earlier this year to raised devil horns and frothing PBRs from most within Tacoma's music scene, with singer-bassist Matt Sader, drummer Bardon Boote, guitarist Dave Takata (you may have seen him in every other goddamn band in town) and newbie Trina Walker reclaiming the rock stance the band is so well known for. Sunday, Argonaut will help anchor the musical portion of a day-long no-limit poker tournament at Hell's Kitchen. Losing money has never been more rockin'.

[Hell's Kitchen, with Hands of Toil, Lozen, Pioneers West, Thieves Hours, poker starts at noon, music at 7 p.m., $50 donation for poker, $5 for music, 928 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, 253.759.6003]
