On Friday, Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist - who was appointed to the position after Gerry Horne retired last year - will kick off his first bid for official election with what we can only expect to be a star-studded "kick off party" - which in the business of politics, is code for warm and fuzzy fundraising event. Lindquist promises the event will feature "The Beatniks, an awesome band, musical guest stars to be announced, beer, wine, food, and great people."

PREDICTION: In what may be the culmination of one of the worst kept secrets in the history of prosecutorial campaign kick off parties, the special musical guests will include R.E.M's Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey of the Young Fresh Fellows and Minus 5.
