Saturday, April 24: Parks Appreciation Day

Pierce County parks

By Michael Swan on April 21, 2010

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, which wasn't the main reasoning behind the Volcano's Green Issue, but still - not a bad coincidence. Of more importance, on Saturday thousands of Pierce County residents will celebrate the annual Parks Appreciation Day - in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of said Earth Day - by helping to clean and beautify a bunch of local parks from 9 a.m. to noon. Individuals can find a participating park online at parksappreciationday.net, and groups of 10 or more looking to lend a hand can register by contacting an official liaison for the park they're interested in working on.

Prediction: Matt Driscoll will be very disappointed to learn Spanaway Lake Park is not on the official list, denying him the opportunity to make immature sexual liaison jokes with the official park liaison.
