Thursday, Feb. 25: poet Lucia Perillo

Garfield Book Company

By Matt Driscoll on February 24, 2010

Poet Lucia Perillo will be in the house for PLU English Department's Visiting Writers Series Thursday inside the Garfield Book Company. In truth, though, Perillo won't be traveling very far - she lives in Olympia. But Perillo's travel is beside the point. An accomplished author, Perillo's poetry has made her a previous finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize, and scored her the Kingsley Tufts prize from Claremont University. Not too shabby, especially for a poet - and that's just the start. Thursday, Perillo will be discussing and signing her latest work, Inseminating the Elephant.

PREDICTION: To cries of foul and mass public disenchantment, an elephant will not actually be inseminated Thursday at Garfield Book Company. Sorry.
