Trivia nights in the South Puget Sound area

Obscure knowledge and random facts can net prizes

Like friendly competition? Want to prove that you remember the most about cars, know musical lyrics from all genres and can recall the batting line-up for the 1986 Mets? Then grab some friends and head out to trivia at any of these local watering holes...you may even get lucky and come home with prizes.

Newest to the scene is the Tacoma Comedy Club (933 Market Street) which recently starting hosting trivia every Monday at 7 p.m. There is no cost to enter, but there are plenty of drink specials.

For big prizes, head to The Harmon Hub (203 Tacoma Avenue South, Tacoma) on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. Teams of six or less play for free, but the winning team gets $50 in cash, runner-up get a $25 Hub gift certificate and third place receives a t-shirt.

Steilacoom Pub & Grill (1201 Rainier Street, Steilacoom) has trivia on Wednesday nights, starting at 7 p.m. 253.584.7693

Ale House Pub & Eatery (2122 Mildred Street West, Tacoma) welcomes teams of eight players or less to compete on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Winners get to spin the prize wheel and take something great home.

Ricky J's Restaurant & Lounge (6805 176 Street East, Puyallup) has trivia on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Prizes go to the winning team.

At Engine House No. 9 (611 North Pine Street, Tacoma) 253) Wednesdays are quiz nights. The games start at 7 p.m. and winners can earn ‘Doggie Dollars' to be used towards appetizers and beverages at E-9.

Doyle's Public House (208 St. Helens Avenue, Tacoma) is home to Knowledge Night on Wednesdays, starting at 8 p.m. Teams can have up to six players and all players on the winning team receive a prize.

O'Blarney's Irish Pub (4411 Martin Way East, Olympia) holds Pub Quiz Night every Thursday, starting at 8 p.m. No cost to play and no team minimum, plus 20 ounce Bud Lights are just $2.50 a piece from 8 p.m. until close.

The Tacoma Ram Restaurant and Brewery (3001 Ruston Way) is one of many bars nationwide to showcase the popular Geeks Who Drink pub quiz. The quiz consists of eight rounds, each with eight questions, and the team with the most points after all the rounds wins. Teams can be up to six players. Check it out Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. at the Ram or earlier in the week on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. at Paddy Coyne's Irish Pub (815 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma).
