3 Drinks: Throwin’ em back with housewives at Marrow’s

These days a simple phone text is all it takes to get Pappi Swarner out on the town.  With his six month sabbatical and all, I'm kinda diggin' his new appointment calendar.  It's like a McDonald's drive thru: Open all the time.  This, to me, means nothing but pure fun.

Fun like Marrow's unique drink menu.

So fun, in fact, that it was a four or five drink minimum kind of night.  Ouch.

First Drink - Bartender's Choice: Ruby

Beet-infused manopolowa vodka made a delicious beginning to one of the best Three Drink Minimum evenings I've ever had.  As an added bonus, this was a great way to get in my vegetables for the day.  Now if only Smooth ‘n' Juicy would start putting vodka in their fresh juices, we'd have a winner.

Second Drink - Most Popular: Lillian

All specialty drinks on Marrow's drink menu are named after depression-era housewives from rural Kentucky.  I don't really know this to be a fact, but it is something I imagine would be furthest from the truth.  Regardless, makes for a good story.  Don't be afraid to ask the bartender next time you visit Marrow.  They love stupid questions.

Huckleberry vodka, lavender and coconut made up the Lillian - three tasty drink ingredients I never would've put together without the brilliance of Marrow.

Third Drink - My Choice: Pauline

Pisco, lime and my favorite ingredient to any drink ever: jalapeño.  A drink to rival 1022 South's Garden of Forking Paths jalapeño-infused drink, I asked Jamie Kay if she had any other spicy concoctions to share.

She did have a spicy treat to share, and it was grand.  A sample of chili-infused tequila made it's way to our table, and Jamie Kay noted that it was definitely something she was working on, not yet on the menu.

After multiple sips of her chili tequila, I couldn't resist ordering another Pauline, which eventually lead us down the street to visit past Crown Bar celebrity, Dino, now working the rail at Dirty Oscar's Annex.

Dino at DOA.  Wowsers. Now that is a story I'll have to save for another week in Three Drink Minimum.
