The Tides Tavern is on the waterfront in a very On the Waterfront way. The Gig Harbor institution isn't glitzy, pretentious, or expensive. There isn't beer pong, saketinis or salad bars. The Tides is simply an informal, neighborhood hangout with great pizza and chowder, friendly service and a killer view off the back deck, which has a perpetual waiting list. You see The Tides' deck is the hottest Margaritaville party in Gig Harbor. Tank tops, visors and boat shoes are required dress. Catcalling nearby boats and flexing muscles while drinking are the show. And someone always ignores the sign and swap tables for the sunrays. Gosh, Karl Malden would have loved this place.
