Wikipedia says, "Sunday night blues is an acute condition, mostly affecting nine-to-five workers and students." Wikipedia is full of crap. Sunday night blues is an awesome condition, mostly affecting a graying crowd of music lovers. For as long as we can remember, The Spar in Old Town Tacoma, with the help of promoter Ted Brown and his crew, hosted blues bands every Sunday night. The Sunday night blues continues today (R.I.P. Ted Brown). Also gone is the lawlessness that ruled the watering hole in the early 1900s. Today, The Spar is vibrant and friendly, restored with cool wood floors and a beautiful back bar. The beer aroma is faint, but it's definitely there. And so is the Sunday night blues. And it doesn't matter what band is shoved into the corner, the people arrive at 7 p.m. by rote. It's a beautiful thing.
