Smells Like Tacoma

Plus Angels & Demons and more

ANGELS & DEMONS: Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard return to Da Vinci Code territory with this adaptation of author Dan Brown's first book, a prequel of sorts to Da Vinci. This one's aimed squarely at a more mature audience. (PG-13) – Michael Swan

NEXT DAY AIR: Bloody screwball comedy about possibly the world’s most inept bank robbers along with its most inept delivery man and most imprudent drug lord.  With Donald Faison, Mike Epps, Wood Harris and Mos Def.  Funny. (R) Three stars – Roger Ebert

SMELLS LIKE TACOMA: Classik Productions and Dan Heassler present the video premier of Smells Like Tacoma featuring local skateboarders Robbie Repp, Aaron Johnson, Joe McLellan, Tyrone Olson and Dan Heassler doing there thing throughout Tacoma. (NR) – BW

STAR TREK: The 2009 Star Trek film goes back eagerly to where Star Trek began, using time travel to explain a cast of mostly the same characters, only at a younger point in their lives, sailing the starship Enterprise. As a story idea, this is sort of brilliant, and saves on invention because young Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhuru, Scotty and the rest channel their later selves. The child is father to the man, or the Vulcan, and all that. (PG-13) Two and a half stars — RE
