For this second installation of Olympia exploration, I went to a place that I consider to be an epicenter of many things that I love:



The Fish Tale Brew Pub.



Why do I love Olympia’s Fish Brewing so? Well, let’s just say that I’m addicted to any of their organic beers (especially the IPA), and ever since I went to Central Washington University, I’ve been head-over-heels in love with Leavenworth’s Whistling Pig Hefeweizen (did you know that Fish Brewing married Leavenworth Biers in 2001?).



However, despite these many affinities, I’d never set foot in their adorable spot on Jefferson in Oly-Oly-Oh.



Thus, my second Olympia investigation had to occur there.



Fish is situated exactly where you find most breweries and brewpubs in bigger cities, a little on the outskirts of the downtown. Immediately when I entered the space, my eyes lit up with what I saw.



The walls of the brewpub are glowing with vibrant local art, the bar itself is inviting, I love the warm-wall feel, and the staff treated me like I’d been coming there forever.

As I sat at the bar, Olympia regulars were all around me, and it seemed like each and every one of them knew each other as comments flew from one table to another about local and national events and politics (yep, that’s Olympia!).



Sure, I was there to catch a beer (I’ll never be able to resist that Whistling Pig), but I was also very eager to try the food. The menu is full of all forms of treats that are organic, yet sounded very tasty.



Personally, I opted for the taco cart, two tacos that contained spicy organic beef, and a side of the organic russet fries that are made fresh daily. After I offered my order, the bartender let me know that I’d made a good choice by giving me a “woo hoo!” Nice!



Granted, I was super hungry on this day, but those tacos and those fries made my little heart go pitter patter, and it really made me want to go back to try other menu items.



As for the overall establishment, Fish seems fit for all walks of life, from the grungiest Oly hippie to the staunchest governmental bureaucrat, and I also smiled when I saw the tie-dyed collector items for sale.



On a scale of one to 10, I’d have to give the Fish a 15, and I can’t wait to head back there soon.
