The February kiss-off

Valentine’s Day should be called Annoying Couples Day

By Jennifer Johnson on February 5, 2009

How to tell if you are one of those couples: You hold hands all the time. You no longer refer to yourself as “I,” and you answer any question about your upcoming weekend plans with “I’m not sure what we’re doing.” You grin like an idiot. A lot. You’re the kissy-face couple that single people wish horrible death upon. Don’t get me wrong, I think love is grand and have been in these oh-so-cute relationships before. However, I’m not in one now and quite enjoy rolling my eyes and making sounds of feigned disgust at couples in amore.

Here are a few things to do that will ensure further gloating rights post-Valentine’s Day and that your single friends will shoot daggers at your back when you’re not looking.

Dance, dance, dance, dance

Sign up for super sexy dance lessons at Studio 6 Ballroom. The dance studio is offering a special afternoon dance class for couples on Valentine’s Day. Learn sultry Salsa dance moves, some shimmy and shake and then hopefully rev each other up for the dance floor later in the evening. Saturday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m. Only $20 per couple. Want to get in on the dance action before the big day? Hit the Dance to Romance event Saturday, Feb. 7, where you can learn current dance club moves at 8 p.m followed by a dance at 8:30 p.m.

Rub a dub dub

Energetic dancing not your thing? Schedule a sensual and over-the-top couple’s spa experience at the newly remodeled and renamed Club Biella Spa & Salon (formerly Biella by Ruth Michelle). You and your special one can sigh softly together in the spa’s private Indulgence suite wrapped in fluffy robes before you bathe each other, get tandem chocolate massages, aromatherapy facials, scalp massages, rose petal-infused foot soak and sugar scrub ending with a massage using Club Biella’s signature chocolate soufflé moisturizer. Now that’s some serious deep pampering.
