BANFF Mountain Film Festival

Grab a celluloid high

By Suzy Stump on December 4, 2008

Let’s say you’re suffering from scratches from your mountain hike last weekend. Your first instinct is to reach for the Noxzema and a bottle of Yoo-Hoo (the Yoo-Hoo is to cool your insides, natch). But the folks at Olympia Mountaineers Club maintain that art is also important for healing — and not just scratches. The art of film. Especially the BANFF Mountain Film festival. The two-day festival features the best in "mountain" film from all over the world, from white water to heli-kayaking, summiting a high peak to mastering fresh powder. Go heal yourself through the adventures and misadventures of others.

[Capitol Theater, Saturday, Dec. 6 7 and Sunday, Dec. 7 6 p.m., $10-$12, $20 for both nights, 206 Fifth Ave., Olympia, 360.754.5378]
