I’m hanging in the front

Everyone is meeting at The Hub

In this current state of nationwide economic woe, I’m always happy to see that restaurants and bars are still buzzing with people.

Sure, as the story goes, bars, casinos and cosmetics always do well in an economic downturn, but for any business, there still has to be a high level of magic that keeps people coming back as jobs are cut, stocks are plummeting and the housing bubble is bursting.

If the above factors have got you down, you do indeed need to head to a bar and drown your sorrows. You’ll wanna go to a place that’s comfortable, inviting and fun.

Which means you must go to The Hub.

This restaurant and bar only opened in April, and what’s amazing is how quickly a scene has developed in this space that’s on one hot block in the Stadium District, with the neighboring Doyle’s Public House and the loving King’s Books next door.

Each time I’ve been to The Hub, I’ve never been let down by the amount of people that are there to high five, and I prefer to cozy up to the bar to enjoy the special treatment that bartenders Ahmad and James provide.

Their large space is split up in the most strategic of fashions. There’s no doubt that The Hub is family friendly, and you’ll often find parents and kids occupying the large tables in the back dining room. In the front you’ll find a mix of people (me) sitting at the bar, and there’s nothing like occupying their deck when the garage doors are open and the weather is so sweet.

Lately I’ve been noticing that more and more of my friends are inviting me to join them at The Hub, or they’ve been telling me stories about the great time that they had there.

You need to get in on that fun, too.

Most recently, The Hub has been hosting different kinds of events. Fridays, DJ Funk spins from 9 p.m. to midnight. Oct. 4, Ben Mira will play his indie funk rock. Whenever this type of entertainment occurs in the front of the house, toes are tapping, and some even jump to their feet to shake that booty.

I really like to hit up The Hub at 5:30 p.m. because the after-work crowd is always lively, but then again, The Hub is also great for late night because their pizza, pastas and fresh menu (get the sweet potato fries!) are certainly tummy pleasers.

Even better, The Hub just opened an event space, The Side Car, which can accommodate family gatherings, business meetings or mid-sized parties for up to 60 guests.

So, dear readers, forget about our stupid economy, and visit the happenin’ Hub now.
