Carmen scores an A

I made stellar choices this week.

Last week I was getting to the point of a nervous breakdown. The work world was relentlessly beating at my door, social endeavors were as demanding as ever, I could barely get to my volunteer activities, and on top of all of that, I had my first statistics test.

Well, supportive readers, let me just say that I officially took care of everything (somehow). And although I was almost in tears because I didn’t know if I could master one of my statistics chapters in time for my test, I’m so relieved to report that your very own Carmen scored an A after all was said and done.

NICE!

But push all of that stress aside, and let’s move to the good stuff I had a chance to take part in last week.

Maxwell’s Mock Dinner

Last Tuesday I snuck into Maxwell’s VIP mock dinner where we found K to the K, Cowboy Cutie, My Gay Husband, The Reverend and Hot Pantz. We drank too much wine, enjoyed all of the delicious food and desserts and the comforts of being cared for by Jason, Corey, and GM Tewfik. It was so sweet to be spoiled in that way, and for that and so many other reasons, I’m going to become a staple at Maxwell’s. If you haven’t been there yet, GO!

Award-winning Thursday

I motored up to Seattle after work to watch my company receive a fancy award that I scored for us. All of the leaders were so happy with this achievement (yeaaaa!). After, I met up with Dallas, and we caught beverages at Fado and the Owl N Thistle. Dallas is my favorite. It was also a nice treat to see Best Friend Colin before he flew off to Puerto Vallarta, white suits in tow. Jealous.

Softball soreness

Friday was my first softball game of the season, and my beloved team asked me to catch, which I actually enjoy, especially because I’m coming into the season far too out of shape. We haven’t practiced at all, which is why I’m stoked that we lost by only two. Unfortunately, the 90 minutes of squatting did a number on my quads, and I woke up the next morning having to lift my legs out of bed. I felt crippled for the rest of the weekend, but at least I know I’m alive, and this (paired with the nice weather) is compelling me to get back in shape like I should. Of course, that had to start after post-game pizza and beers at the Cloverleaf  —yum!

Mariners magic

Saturday, I was so honored that the Sherpa invited me to join him at the Mariners game where we sat in luxury in the Food Services of America suite. FSA hooked us up with awesome suite seats, free food and beers, and cool people to chat with, but I tried my best to keep my head in the game (I LOVE baseball). After catching that Mariners W against the Oakland A’s, we headed back to Tacoma and watched The Departed. AWESOME flick!

Carmen’s hot ticket for next week

Cinco de Mayo at Masa: Free gifts, DJs spinning and a secret special guest band, starting at 8 p.m.
