Simian Mobile Disco

Attack Decay Sustain Release

By Amy Polansky on April 3, 2008

I have finally found the greatest and most satisfying dishwashing music in the entire world. I found this out the hard way, but am I happy. Do not let this statement sway you, because Simian Mobile Disco’s latest (and first) release, Attack Decay Sustain Release, is mind-blowing, to say the very least.

Fusing good ole’ electronic beats, a hodgepodge of vocal styles, and thumping delectableness, this is a force to be reckoned with. Following the lead of other electronic/trance/trip hop/dub conglomerates such as the ferocious Bassnectar and Diplo, Simian Mobile Disco offers listeners a chance to dance for their life and love every minute of it. If you’re looking for a good track to start out with, try “I Got This Down,” track two — my personal dishwashing favorite. Also, don’t miss them when they swing through Seattle, Thursday April 24 at Capitol Hill staple Neumo’s (8 p.m., $12 in advance, 21+) — this is the evolution of hip-hop and electronic in the flesh, and my is it fresh.
