Dress up for the Ghostmuster Fun Run

Email Article Print Article Share on Facebook Share on Reddit Share on StumbleUpon

Ghostbusters hunt ghosts, while those running in the in Tenino hunt down a healthy lifestyle. Both have a great time doing what they do, and one of the groups has a much better cardiovascular profile.

But while the Ghostbusters live in celluloid, the ghostmuster-ers live yearly, and have for almost 20 years.

Every year, the Thurston County Parks and Recreation Department holds a 1, 5, and 10 K Ghostmuster Fun Run on the weekend before Halloween. Every year, runners show up in costumes and jog through the same Halloween-themed neighborhood. This year, up to 140 people might show up and most will get prizes; prizes will be awarded for costumes, and more prizes will be awarded depending on placement, with first, second, and third prizes awarded for a number of age groups. Then, even more prizes will be awarded at random, during the drawings as results are tabulated and as runners snack on donated Subway sandwiches.

So the big question is: why the heck aren’t you going to the Tenino Elementary Multipurpose Room at 8 a.m., to register, with the race beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday? You have health, well being, and some guilt-free candy-eating to gain.

[Tenino Elementary, Saturday, Oct. 27, 8 a.m. registration, $12-$25, 301 Old Highway 99 N., Tenino, 360. 786.5595]
