Serenity, soon

Megan Douglas, a massage practitioner and hypnotherapist currently working out of a chiropractor’s office on 19th and Pearl in Tacoma, as well as teaching Yoga out of Total Woman Health Studio, has plans to open a spa called Serenity in the not-quite-done Roberson Building in downtown Tacoma this fall.

Douglas says that rather than being a “Beauty Spa” Serenity will offer services that encourage holistic well-being, including the modalities she already practices, like massage, counseling and nutrition.

“There’ll be a healing purpose to everything we’ll offer,” Douglas promises.

She’s also finalizing plans to have a resident-only menu of in-home services that she’ll offer to occupants of the condos nearest to her location.

Kinda’ makes you want to go buy that condo now, huh?

Pitch Pipe Infoshop

Friday will be the grand opening party of the Pitch Pipe Infoshop in Tacoma.

An e-mail I received gave more info on the organization behind the Infoshop:

“Pitch Pipe Infoshop is run by a collective of anarchists in Tacoma, with the hope of making it a community center for all of Tacoma, particularly the Hilltop. The Infoshop will include a radical lending library (with books, films, music and zines), computers with Internet access, conversations and ideas, coffee and tea.”

The space is located on the main floor of a collectively-run house in Hilltop.
