Carmen's summer daze

Hanging with Hawaiian homegirl, Colin and Vicky Venus

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from writing for this fine rag, it’s that you all LOVE Carmen when she’s on vacation.

So with that, I have some music for your nibble-worthy ears.

I just got started with another one right now!

So many of you followed my Hawaiian adventures and escapades, and guess what? Ninja J, the beauty I went to college with who’s now a Waikiki pimp, is here to visit me!!! Yea, yea, yea!!!!

She’s in town to be in our friend Kendra’s wedding, and she made a special trip to kick it with yours truly.

Ninja J and I were reunited at Matador Sunday night, and she was accompanied by her friends Jeff and Jen. My eyes were so happy to see her.

As usual, she was a real crowd pleaser.

After some tasty snacks and amazing margaritas, we rolled up to Doyle’s. It was so fun to introduce Ninja J to everyone because they immediately recalled that she was my Hawaiian homegirl.

Bartender Nicky was particularly fond of Ninja J’s stories, especially the one involving a Puerto Rican penis.

Before we got into too much trouble, we bolted off to Magoo’s where Ninja J was greeted by the likes of Rosie, Bluecifer, Philmosa and his friend Dave.

After a few too many shots, we shut down the bar and headed home for something I love more than anything else in life: sleeping in!!!!

On Monday, Natasha and The Husky met up with us and we introduced Ninja J to Quickie Too. She’s a vegetarian, and she fell in love with Quickie Too just like we all have.

After that, we ran over to the Glass Museum. Even ninjas appreciate art.

She left on Tuesday, but I’ll get to see her again at Kendra’s wedding in Carnation this Saturday. YEA!

Powerful girls like us need to stick together!

I heart Colin

Last Wednesday I rode up to Seattle with a bunch of co-workers to catch the last Mariner’s game in the Red Sox series. It was such a gorgeous day, and I love the co-workers I was with. However, I was getting blown up with text messages because all of my Seattle guy friends were at the game, and they were stoked that I was back in town. At that point, I made one of the smartest decisions ever. I decided to take the bus back to Tacoma so I could hang with boys like Jordan, Roafie, Marty and my best friend, Colin. All of the boys are originally from Boston, and you have no idea how much fun they are. They rolled into the Owl N Thistle (which Colin’s family owns) with Red Sox and Southie gear and sad faces after their team was defeated in extra innings (what a great game!).

After the boys filtered out, Colin decided he was going to take me out to dinner. When he said he was going to take me somewhere special, I thought he was being his usual smart ass self and that we’d end up at Dick’s. Instead, he took me to a place that almost made me cry: The Metropolitan Grill, my FAVORITE Seattle restaurant. All of the people who work at the Met hang out at the Owl, so they treat Colin like a king, and he got a table in the bar right away. We had the most amazing meal. I had the Dungeness crab crusted Alaskan halibut with fresh vegetables, jack cheese in a lemon chive butter sauce. I can’t begin to explain how good that was. Colin was also kind enough to introduce me to D2, an amazing red wine from Woodinville’s DeLille Cellars. When that excursion drew to a close, I enjoyed a few more cocktails at the Owl, and rode home on the sweet express bus back to T-Town.

Boy, Colin, you really know how to treat a girl, and I’ll always love you!

Taste of Tacoma

This most recent Sunday funday, I headed to the Taste of Tacoma where I got to hang out with Vicky Venus and Jack. They were kind enough to take me on a water tour in the luxurious boat, and what a day it was for that! They then dropped me off on Day Island where I met up with some BBQing fools: The Husky, The Big Shooter, Angie and some of their friends.

If this summer keeps on going the way it is, I think my pupils might turn into stars.

Read all about the rest of my vacation next week, and I’ll see you then.
