So it’s time for a new summer ’do, but you don’t have a lot of cash to burn and you want to do something that’s altruistic?
While there’s altruism (and money to be saved) in offering your tresses to students of cosmetology to help them gain experience, on June 15 there’s more good karma to be gained at The Tacoma Salon Professional Academy as they join other Salon Professional Academies nationwide for an Inspire Change cut-a-thon.
Inspire Change is a partnership between Redken 5th Avenue NYC (with whom Salon Professional Academy is affiliated) and Couture for Cancer, a non-profit organization that donates non-surgical human hair replacement systems to cancer patients worldwide.
One-hundred percent of the haircut proceeds generated on June 15 by The Salon Professional Academies will be pooled and directly given to fund production of 1,000 hair replacement systems, which generally retail at $3,500, for approved recipients.
While it’s recommended to call ahead to book an appointment, Karen Shea of the academy says they’ll try their best to accommodate walk-ins; with five full classes operating in the Academy, she says, “We’ll have all hands on deck.”
