Idaho isn’t known for much, but that seems to be changing. Bands like Hailey, Idaho’s Finn Riggins are reinventing the potato state.



Of course, Idaho has had Built to Spill for some time now, but besides that, it’s mainly been starchy tubers, Mark Fuhrman, and Jake Plummer.



That’s a pretty impressive list, but something tells me Idaho can do better.



On Tuesday, Dec. 4, Finn Riggins, Revolt and Virginia and Evy Llyan will bring the college radio indie rock to Le Voyeur in Olympia. Adding to the Idaho theme, Evy Llyan calls Moscow, Idaho home. Revolt and Virginia, of course, reside in Olympia.



If nothing else, Finn Riggins proves there’s a lot more diversity in Idaho than most people recognize. Blending catchy rock riffs with some electronic magic, a few fresh time changes, a little bit of intellect, and a number of genre-defying song structures, there’s a reason all the hip kids are going ga-ga for Finn Riggins.



They’re good, plain and simple — better than anything the potato has done.



Finn Riggins will be at Le Voyeur Tuesday touring in support of their new album, A Soldier, A Saint, An Ocean Explorer. The record was released nationwide Nov. 13 by Portland, Oregon’s Tender Loving Empire — an independent label publishing house, fashion cooperative and art gallery. Seeing as Finn Riggins, with all their varied influences and sounds, is redefining what a band can be, their relationship with Tender Loving Empire — who themselves are redefining what a label can be — seems only natural.
