Tiki Lounge and Redeco-rama

what i blew my paycheck on this week

I am shopper,

Shopper I am,

And I will buy green eggs and ham …

A T-shirt, that is, from Tiki Lounge — this handy-dandy multipurpose item will not only serve to remind me of Herr Seuss’s contribution to the world of kiddie literature at a time when we’re collectively celebrating his 103rd birthday, but it will also make me absolutely impervious to pinching on St. Paddy’s Day.

And while I’m there, I will peruse the insanely good deals on the sale rack, try on some of the coolest Sam Edelman shoes, and try on some thoroughly fun styles owner Stacey White is bringing in for the spring.

Her look is changing this year. Pieces are still primarily at and under the $100 price range, but they have a sassier, bolder aesthetic with more bright colors and fun dresses to die for.

Redeco-rama meets Good Karma

In my house-wide redecorating/cleaning blitz, I discovered that a lamp I love is shooting sparks out its base.  I’m all about reigniting the spark at home, but when it involves real electricity and the threat of fire, I shy away and invite the pros to help.

I headed off to Jerika’s Lamps and Shades, where I found out that instruments, vases, old coffee urns, and pottery can be made into the ultimate in recycled, functional art. While that tidbit of info would set me off on a quest for lamp-worthy pottery about the house, for the moment I was more interested in getting my lamp fixed.

I’ll pick up my new and improved lamp soon, and while I’m doing that I’ll pick up a new wallet, as well, and possibly more.

A new shop in the same strip as Jerika’s, called Good Karma, has exactly the kinds of fun stuff I love looking at: jewelry by local designers and fun and functional accessories ranging from headbands to belts and fab buckles, Chinese silk handbags and fun frog-mouth coin purses.

There’s also the glam-casual Beijo bag line in the shop.  This line, sort of the Tupperware of handbags, has a distinctive, clean-lined look I love and a specific piece I need: a sort of shimmery mod laptop handbag with space for cell phone, keys, and other goodies that will possibly give me a look that’s more hipster, less bag-lady than my current handbag + laptop case combo.
