Treat me right on Valentine's Day

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, I know for a fact that Tina Turner said it best:

“What’s love got to do with it?”

For some reason, I’ve been jinxed on this holiday every year of my life. Each of the boyfriends I’ve had refused to celebrate it, so I’ve never actually had a Valentine.

It’s sad, but true.

Accordingly, I’ve always thought Valentine’s Day was worthless crap.

But maybe, just maybe, I might be changing my tune for the first time ever.

I have a few potential suitors in mind, but if they really wanted to spend time with me on this marketing tool of a holiday, they’d send me a single flower beforehand with an adjoining note inviting me to dinner.

Everyone who’s anyone knows that I love fancy restaurants, and there are so many romantic establishments in Tacoma. If the boy was smart, he’d offer to take me to one of them.

Here’s where I’d rather be that night and some ideas that will add passion to your own Feb. 14.

Matador: No offense, but this Tex Mex scene might actually be sexier than your significant other. I have a feeling that the couples who score a spot at the open fire pit will be the envy of all.

Over the Moon: The second you sink into your comfortable antique chair and the wine starts flowing you’ll know you made the right choice, but ask for a pillow to sit on if you need a little more height to bat your eyes at your fancy friend.

El Gaucho: I know it’s expensive, but every girl deserves it. Walking your date arm-in-arm down the flight of stairs that leads into the restaurant will show how much you care.

The Melting Pot: The milk chocolate fondue will be fun to kiss off of each other’s lips.

Vin Grotto: Your choice of succulent world wines and the perfect accompanying cheese platter.

The Cliff House or Stanley and Seafort’s: Their amazing views will create the perfect setting for glass clinking. I highly encourage dropping down on one knee at either establishment.

The Pacific Grill: A place that’s just as elegant as your loved one.

But really, if the boy truly loved me, there’s only one place that he’d offer to take me to.

Ravenous: This intimate, charming, endearing, hipster-owned establishment is without a doubt the place to be on Valentine’s Day. Its killer wine list is not to be missed. Any and every morsel of food that comes out of Ravenous’ sweet-smelling kitchen is most certainly an aphrodisiac. Also, the service is excellent. Your lover will adore you even more for it.

But, dear boys, if you’re a little low on cash, a simple e-mail that contains some of the sweetest words could be the ticket to make you my very first Valentine.

Will you be mine?
