Cake for V-Day!

What I blew my paycheck on this week

Wandering through University Place, I stumbled into Cake Apparel and Home.  What’s super fun about Cake is there’s something for everybody, from the posh to the pauper.

On one wall, I saw a series of white pottery that looked plucked from the pages of Metropolitan home. Flower petals were bursting out of the sides of flower vases.  I saw fresh Free People clothes, fun and flirty skirts, seriously rocking shoes, and funky gift items.  I especially liked the cupid and chocolate Aunt Sadie’s candles, but the pièce de résistance of the shop, for me, was the literature scattered around and about.

There were titles such as “Bar Code: Your Personal Dating Decoder to the Modern Dating Scene,” “The Long Distance Relationship Survival Guide: Secrets and Strategies from Successful Couples Who Have Gone the Distance,” and — my personal favorite — “We Need to Talk: But First, Do You Like My Shoes?”

But ultimately, being all chocolate inspired, I decided on the Chocolate Talk chocolate bar — “Sweet Sentiments Handmade in Chocolate.”

I have absolutely no idea what sentiment the significant one will receive from me when he receives his chocolate bar, but I guess sometimes it’s not so much the thought as much as it is the idea behind the gift.
