ASADO

Argentine-inspired steaks, seafood and pasta surrounded by sunset colors, open kitchen and toasty fireplace. Full bar but head for the impressive wine list. One of Tacoma’s best restaurants. 2810 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, 253.272.7770.

EL PULGARCITO

El Pulgarcito, a tiny Salvadoran restaurant on Pacific Highway in Lakewood, offers a tasty tour of El Salvador. If you insist, though, the restaurant has a few Mexican dishes, such as pollo ranchero and carne asada, for the unenlightened.  12134 Pacific Highway S.W., Lakewood, 253.582.5173.

MOJITO BAY

Think a Cuban PF Changs. The decor is metropolitan Caribbean. It sits next to the Capital Mall theater for excellent people watching. We prefer its elegant lounge as our dining spot. Eleven very different dinner choices were presented. Rock fish, rib-eye, Portuguese sausage, sirloin, jerk chicken, pork chops. This place is a carnivore’s dream. Full bar with many mojito options. 625 Black Lake Blvd., Olympia, 360.705.3227.
